Privacy Policy for Dreckly Days

Dreckly Days ("we", "our", or "the app") is a road trip planning application developed by Darren J. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our Android application.

By using Dreckly Days, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information You Provide

• Place names and descriptions — names, notes, short descriptions, and categories you add to saved places
• Star ratings — personal ratings you assign to places and trips
• Web links — website, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook links you choose to save against a place
• Trip information — trip names, notes, and stop order that you create within the app
• Photos — images you choose to attach to saved places, taken with your camera or selected from your gallery

Information Collected Automatically

• Location data — with your permission, we access your device location to centre the map on your current position. We do not store or transmit your location to any server.

All data you enter into Dreckly Days is stored locally on your device only. We do not operate any servers, and your personal data is never transmitted to or stored by us.

Your data is used solely to:

• Display your saved places and trips on the map
• Allow you to plan, view, and share road trips
• Generate PDF exports of your trips and places
• Enable you to share trip and place files with others of your choosing

We do not sell or trade your personal data with third parties.

Direct sharing When you choose to export or share a trip or place file directly from the app, that file is shared from your device to whoever you choose to send it to via your chosen sharing method (such as WhatsApp or email). We have no involvement in or visibility of this sharing.

Community sharing Dreckly Days intends to introduce an optional community trip sharing feature, which will allow users and content creators to voluntarily share their trips with the wider Dreckly Days community. This feature will be entirely opt-in. If you choose to share a trip via the community platform:

• Your trip content (place names, descriptions, notes, and any photos you include) will be visible to other users of the app
• You will be identified as the creator of the shared trip
• You may choose to remove your shared content at any time
• We will never share content you have not explicitly chosen to make public

Personal data stored locally on your device — including places and trips you have not chosen to share — remains private and is never accessed by us

Dreckly Days uses the following third party services which have their own privacy policies:

Mapbox

We use Mapbox to display maps and provide place search functionality. Mapbox may collect anonymised usage data in accordance with their privacy policy.

Google APIs

We use the following Google APIs to provide directions, place search, and map thumbnail functionality:

Google may collect data in accordance with their privacy policy.

Dreckly Days requests access to your camera and photo gallery solely to allow you to attach photos to saved places. Photos are stored locally on your device in the app's private storage folder. Photos are never uploaded to any server by us.

When you export a trip or place as a .dreckly file, compressed versions of your photos may be included in that file if you choose to share it.

Dreckly Days requests access to your device location to centre the map on your current position when you open the app. Location data is used in real time only and is never stored or transmitted.

You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings. The app will continue to function without location permission, but the map will not automatically centre on your position.

All your data is stored locally on your device using Android's Room database. We do not have access to this data. If you uninstall the app, all locally stored data will be deleted.

We recommend you periodically export your trips as .dreckly files as a personal backup, as we cannot recover data lost through app uninstallation or device loss.

Dreckly Days is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted within the app and on this page with an updated date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
